The brief: What does a truly crowd sourced, ground breaking destination news site look like?
Founded in 2009, Demotix is a multi-award-winning picture and video newswire, where the news is supplied by ‘you’. With a community of over 35,000 users, they have broken an abundance of stories and the work of members has been splashed on front pages and screens across the world.
Photographic and audio visual technology is constantly changing, together with how people are using it. Demotix wanted insights into how to ensure they stayed ahead.
The response
Research and consultancy examining current and emerging trends in audio visual technology, journalism and publishing from three perspectives: the journalist/reporter, publisher and reader.
Examining the importance of community, work flows and usability, social networks, mobile, verification, real-time news production and what lessons could be learnt from existing models.
A completely re-designed website and app were just a few of the outcomes.
