Edge into 2009

Hat tip to @stevemoore4good for tweeting about the annual question from Edge.

This year it asked it’s members:

What game-changing scientific ideas and developments do you expect to live to see?

“The mandate of Edge Foundation is to promote inquiry into and discussion of intellectual, philosophical, artistic, and literary issues, as well as to work for the intellectual and social achievement of society.” It’s a membership organisation and each year it asks its members (who are some of the biggest thinkers and intellectuals around) a question and then publishes their repsonses.

The responses make for fascinating, but lengthy reading.

And we’re back

Anyone would have thought looking at this blog that I’ve not been very active since 18th September, or so busy that all lines of communication were down. The latter, plus a real problem with the Del.icio.us tool that automatically sends links as blog post updates to this site (I tried on several occassions to fix this, honest), is slightly nearer the truth, but only just.

If I have a New Year’s resolution, it is to attempt to blog a little more regularly. I’ve set up a Hassle Me notification (this is a fab tool, highly recommended for anything you need reminding of) and before Christmas I started Twittering again, so there may just be a glimmer of hope that come the end of January there may be a few more blog posts that aren’t just links.

Here goes!
